Love
Amplified Bible
Romans 8:38-39
38For I am persuaded
beyond doubt (am sure) that neither death nor life, nor angels nor
principalities, nor things impending and threatening nor things to
come, nor powers,
39Nor
height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation will be able to
separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
John 3:16
For
God so greatly loved and dearly prized the world that He [even] gave
up His only begotten (unique) Son, so that whoever believes in
(trusts in, clings to, relies on) Him shall not perish (come to
destruction, be lost) but have eternal (everlasting) life.
Psalm 136:1
O
GIVE thanks to the Lord, for He is good; for His mercy and
loving-kindness endure forever.
I Corinthians 13:4-7
4Love
endures long and is patient and kind; love never is envious nor
boils over with jealousy, is not boastful or vainglorious, does not
display itself haughtily.
5It
is not conceited (arrogant and inflated with pride); it is not rude
(unmannerly) and does not act unbecomingly. Love (God's love in us)
does not insist on its own rights or its own way, for it is not
self-seeking; it is not touchy or fretful or resentful; it takes no
account of the evil done to it [it pays no attention to a suffered
wrong].
6It
does not rejoice at injustice and unrighteousness, but rejoices when
right and truth prevail.
7Love
bears up under anything and everything that comes, is ever ready to
believe the best of every person, its hopes are fadeless under all
circumstances, and it endures everything [without weakening].
Matthew 5:43-44
43You
have heard that it was said, You shall love your neighbor and hate
your enemy;
44But I tell you, Love your enemies and pray for those
who persecute you,
Matthew 22:37-40
37And He replied to him, You shall love the
Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with
all your mind (intellect).
38This
is the great (most important, principal) and first commandment.
39And
a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as [you do]
yourself.
40These
two commandments sum up and upon them depend all the Law and the
Prophets.
I John 5:3
For
the [true] love of God is this: that we do His commands [keep His
ordinances and are mindful of His precepts and teaching]. And these
orders of His are not irksome (burdensome, oppressive, or grievous).
